Will my child be known and valued?
A good children’s ministry is more than a place to stay while parents attend worship. It is a place where children can experience the love of Christ, ask questions, build friendships, and begin to recognize the gifts God has given them.
At Christ Fellowship Tampa, that starts with people. Our children’s leaders have spent years investing in children and families. New volunteers serve alongside seasoned leaders, learning how to encourage children, teach biblical character, and help every child feel seen.
How do check-in and pickup work?
Every children’s leader is background checked. Children enter through a secure Children’s Center check-in area, with additional age-specific check-in areas. A child is never alone with just one teacher.
- Already registered? Parents can check children in using the check-in iPads.
- New to Christ Fellowship? A Children’s Center host will help with a quick, secure first-time check-in.
- At pickup: Each child receives a check-in number. Parents keep a matching copy and bring it back when checking their child out.
During first-time check-in, please share allergies, food restrictions, disabilities, or other individual needs. That information is passed to classroom leaders. You are also welcome to contact us before visiting to discuss your child’s needs and how we can help.
What will my child learn?
Our Sunday ministry uses Orange Curriculum for engaging, age-appropriate Bible teaching. Orange brings together Bible stories, music, creative activities, small-group conversations, and resources that connect learning at church with life at home.
We place a strong emphasis on memorizing Scripture. We want children to carry God’s Word with them when Mom and Dad are not beside them—to remember what is true, make wise choices, and encourage friends and siblings to follow Jesus.
Our goal is not simply knowing the right answer in a classroom. It is growing in kindness, courage, biblical character, and a willingness to use their gifts to help others.
How are parents included?
Parents receive weekly updates about what their children are learning, along with guides to continue those conversations at home. You do not have to have every answer. Our leaders want to partner with you as you guide your child in spiritual truth.
What is Awana, and when does it meet?
Our Awana program meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM, using the children’s areas we use on Sundays. Registration is required and can be completed at check-in. Please ask our team about current Awana campus and age-group details before your first Wednesday.
Awana combines relationships with caring leaders, Bible teaching, Scripture memory, and games. Its emphasis is on understanding and living out the Bible, not only reciting verses.
What should we do on our first Sunday?
Children’s ministry for birth through 5th grade is available during the 11:00 AM Sunday worship service at both The Heights and South Tampa. Arrive about 10 minutes early, come through the Welcome Center, and let a team member know you are new. We will direct you to the Children’s Center. There is coffee to enjoy, and you can ask for a guided tour of the children’s areas.
A new environment can take time to feel familiar. Give your child a consistent rhythm over a few weeks, stay in conversation with our leaders, and let us know how the transition is going. We want your child to feel loved and encouraged—and we want you to feel welcome, too.
